Mayor Wiggins congratulates winner
Nathan Fisher at the January 19, 2004
Council meeting.

In October 2003, Mayor Wiggins announced the City of Warsaw would have a community-wide contest for a new city logo. The new design would need to represent Warsaw's pride, express the community's vision and spirit, and portray its progressive growth for the future.

As Nathan described his artwork, he explained that "Warsaw" is boldly centered in the middle of the design and is the focal point of the logo. Warsaw is a progressive, growing community. Therefore, Nathan explained that he chose an oval shape rather than a circle, "because organic shapes derive from nature and have the ability to grow and expand."

The landscape silhouette represents homes, government, church, and industry. Being known for our lakes, a lake with sailboat and ducks is depicted below "Warsaw." The top banner incorporates the city's nickname "City of Lakes" with its founding date of 1854.

The former city seal stated "Live, Work, Play." Nathan kept that idea, but in the bottom banner changed the tense of the phrase to "Living, Working, Playing" to reflect "action and activity."

Mayor Wiggins and the City Council are pleased with this new logo and are confident it will help keep the City of Warsaw progressively moving forward into the 21st Century. Nathan received $500 for his artistic efforts. His talent and skills will serve him well as he begins his graphic design career.
